Hi, my name is Paul, and this is my very first blog. Writing this feels a little strange, but I believe in starting anyway, even if it isn’t perfect.

Life has taken me through many different paths — from apprenticeships to odd jobs. But when I found programming, it felt like home. It was the hardest thing I had ever tried, yet it gave me comfort, purpose, and pride.

To others, coding may just look like “writing lines of code” or “another job in tech.” But to me, programming became everything — the one thing I could hold on to. When I started coding, I felt alive, like I finally discovered what I was meant to do.

Falling in Love With Programming

I’ll never forget one moment early in my journey:

One morning, I decided to skip class just to code. I sat at my desk at 8 a.m. and didn’t stop until 8 a.m. the next day. My brother eventually forced me to sleep, but even then, I didn’t feel tired — I felt alive. That’s how much I loved programming.

Of course, the fire isn’t always that bright. Over time, motivation goes up and down. But I’ve learned that when you’re entering a new level in life, things often feel different. The momentum may slow, but it doesn’t mean you’re failing — it just means you’re growing.

YouTube, Tutorial Hell, and Growth

Like many self-taught developers, I started with a tutor who introduced me to HTML and CSS. Later, I discovered YouTube tutorials and felt like I was swimming in endless resources.

But then came the trap: tutorial hell.

I couldn’t build anything without copying YouTube. I thought projects that took others months could be built in days because they were compressed into 10-hour tutorials. That discouraged me — I felt I wasn’t good enough.

Still, I didn’t give up. Instead, I realized something: falling into tutorial hell isn’t the end — it’s part of the learning process. The key is recognizing it and deciding to grow past it.

I challenged myself to build projects without YouTube. It was hard, but slowly, I started coding from scratch, using my own ideas.

Discovering AI and Finding My Flow

Later, I discovered AI tools like ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot. At first, I built everything on my own, but AI has now become my coding partner. It doesn’t replace me — it speeds me up. Today, I can think of a project, structure it with AI’s help, and build it much faster.

But I never forget: AI is a tool. The real creativity, direction, and persistence still come from me.

Lessons From My Journey

Here are a few key lessons I’ve learned along the way:

Don’t fear tutorial hell. It’s a stage, not a dead end. Recognize it, then grow out of it.
Consistency beats motivation. You won’t always feel “on fire,” but showing up daily is what counts.
Love what you do. Programming is hard, but passion makes it enjoyable.
Use tools wisely. AI can make you 10x faster, but you must first build your own foundation.
Never give up. Progress in coding is often invisible at first, but small steps compound over time.

Programming is more than just a skill for me — it’s my home. From sleepless nights coding, to getting stuck in tutorial hell, to finally building projects on my own with the help of AI, this journey has shaped me.
